We're thrilled to announce the release of OpenUnison 1.0.43. This release has been a long time in the making, but has been well worth the wait! In addition to the usual set of dependency updates, we have added several new features:

  • Simplified Kubernetes Logins - We're replacing the oulogin plugin with a new kubectl exec plugin that makes it easier to generate your kubectl configuration without having to first access the OpenUnison portal. We'll pop open a browser for you to login, and keep your configuration up to date. If your configuration expires, we'll pop open the browser on the next time you run a kubectl command!
  • Security Token Services - While OpenUnison has always had great Security Token Service (STS) capabilities, we're making it even easier to use from inside your cluster. As more on-premise systems rely on cloud hosted services such as infrastructure and gen ai systems, it's more important then ever to be able to easily leverage your own managed identities. Now, OpenUnison can give your Pods an STS tightly coupled to your Pod's lifecycle without having to expose your cluster to the internet. We're also adding a new pricing model to support STS deployments that won't get managed by user. We'll be publishing more blogs on this shortly.
  • Just-In-Time Privileged Access Management - Our Namespace as a Service portal made self-service access to your clusters easy, now we're going to make your security teams even happier by simplifying privileged access to your clusters. Integrate directly into your enterprise's incident management or ticketing system to track how long privileged access should be provided.
  • Better Session Management - Using OpenUnison it's easier then ever to quickly lock users out if needed. Especially in our Namespace as a Service portal!
  • Scalability and Performance - OpenUnison's largest deployments have thousands of developers and admins across hundreds of managed multi-tenant clusters. We've added better performance capabilities to handle these large environments.
  • Accessibility Updates - Our portal went through an accessibility review and we've integrated the results making both our login and namespace-as-a-service portals easier to use.

Check out our release notes for specific updates, and if you haven't used OpenUnison yet, give it a try. As always, we'd love to hear from you!
